Green Machine Comix by Jean Marie Pilario

Love is my livelihood. Guam is my home and paradise. Right now I am trying to evolve in the Nevada desert as an artist dabbling in comics and dipping into the creative craft think tank called Hungry Creators. I wrestle with the themes that everyday life presents and mostly find laughter among the tears at the age of 24. Come to my website every Wednesday and explore more about me.

Oh yes. I am so proud. With friends visiting over the past three weeks and my day job working me to the bone, I managed to finish this 12 page mini comic! Green Machine Comix is ready to launch the prologue for When Guam was my World. This prologue mini comic is titled STORIES OF A NOT SO HOT SCHOOL GIRL. I will be giving out free copies at ANIME DAY. Come and visit this awesome event by Hansha Studios.
Sending to the printers tomorrow. Nap. Then mull over the idea of potentially cosplaying. eep! The picture above is the cover!

Today was a success. I will write more details about this absolutely wonderful day. But just so you know, I am such a happy camper with the results of today and my hopes for the future. I am soooo cheesin’ right now over this person reading WHEN GUAM WAS MY WORLD.

a habit of calling it a hobby.

My new biggest pet peeve is when creative people say it’s a hobby when they clearly fucking love it. I am not going to deny that I’ve used this line every now and then. Belting out, “Oh there’s no money in it. It’s just a hobby.” I am now declaring, it’s your responsibility to influence the world. Do you know how many people in this world want to craft a beautiful sentence that sums life? How many people can elevate goosebumps from that resounding voice in the karaoke bar? Who can easily create offensive and confusing works of art without living through unique but also universal experiences? There are people waiting to be fans of your work if you let them as much as there are crucial critics out there to challenge you. You say you don’t want to lose your passion because it will become a job. Imagine your life without it in your hands and on your breath. Your mind always wonders about that life that laid before you and that void becomes a scar. And that fear of never being amazing enough or susceptible to failure are important. Remember the reason you became an artist in the first place was because at some point in your life you failed. Failing creates volumes of content, passion, and new work. You were inspired since your hero knew that the responsibility of creativity lay with them. You were ignited with talent and must know that you were the given the option of a very hard but existential life. Success stories fought the naysayers especially the largest naysayer of all, oneself. We compare our talents to those of celebrities and suppress the one thing that keeps us from completely killing ourselves in this cruel word. By connecting art, you are respecting art.

Art for art’s sake.

i had a dream last night of the person who wrote my rejection letter. it was peaceful. she said she knew me and my work. i always wished this happened. i’ve always been thankful for the unraveling of unfortunate events. i woke up aware of what i must do. i thirst to draw and my emotions have skyrocketed into a hemisphere of complete abandon after putting my art secondary.
my body didn’t hunger for food as it stuffed that void digging itself deeper.
my heart thirsted its fountain of creative juice.
dreaming of drawing.
drawn to dreams.
